Welcome to today’s post.
Today I will be discussing the most exciting Premier League title race in years has attracted some record-breaking television audiences around the world
The Premier League claim tickets sold across the League is tracking at 95 per cent, while their anti-piracy efforts have also played a part in delivering the uplift in TV viewing. This season they have successfully blocked 175,000 illegal streams in the UK alone.
Viewers are not just attracted to big games like Manchester United versus Manchester City
International figures for the full season are not yet in with one final weekend of fixtures to go but they are tracking much higher and in several territories across the globe the Premier League has achieved its highest ever audience for an individual match.
With the title race going down to the wire for the first time in five years, this could be another bumper weekend. But Sky have already had 16 matches with a 2million+ audience this season, which is more than the past two seasons combined.
There was shock at Sky Sports as Barney Francis's 10-year tenure as managing director ended
A statement from Sky said that Francis, who had become one of the most influential figures in British sport and led the negotiations for Sky in the last £5billion Premier League rights deal, had been 'promoted to the new role of CEO Future Sport'.
But insiders regard Francis as a casualty of the recent Comcast takeover, claiming he was 'emotional' when he addressed staff on Friday. He is being replaced by Rob Webster, who has been at the broadcaster for more than 20 years.
