Welcome to today's post.
I will be discussing the Champions League matches which took place on the 1st and 2nd of May 2019.
First up, Spurs vs Ajax. Going in to this match I expected Ajax to win because of how consistent they have been in the competition knocking out heavy weights Real Madrid and Juventus. They delivered on my prediction winning 1-0 scoring a crucial away goal. The young core of their team continues to impress, making names for themselves. It truly is a story of the underdog. With the tie being 1-0 going into the second leg, the tie is far from over, and with Tottenham possessing such big names, it is entirely possible they will go through. Time will tell.

In the next match Barcelona played Liverpool. This was a tough match to predict due to the attacking prowess of both teams. I leaned towards Barcelona for one simple reason; Lionel Messi. The Argentinian magician continued to show why he is the best player in the world scoring 2 goals including a stupendous free kick from well outside the box, burying the ball into the top left hand corner. For me, Messi is the best player to have ever played football, although a lot of people disagree. I can't ignore how technically gifted he is, while also continuing to perform on the World's biggest stage.

In most cases the tie would be over but Liverpool, with the likes of Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane in their team, truly anything is possible. I do think however that it is too much of a Herculean task and Barcelona will prevail and book their place in the 2019 Champions League Final.
